I design and carve each block by hand. Each woodcut is printed directly from the block using my 1984 Takach etching press in Missoula, Montana. Each print is individually painted, making each one a singular piece of art.

Claire came to art through the back door: hours wandering in the mountains with a field journal, then a graduate degree in natural science illustration, an M.S. in environmental studies, and finally art school with an MFA from Vermont College of Fine Art. For thirty years her work has connected art and conservation, honoring both the spirit and the vitality of wild and working landscapes.
